Hi, I'm Kendy
I've spent some of my time feeling like my environment didn’t quite fit.
I grew up in a strict, high-control community with rigid rules about who women should be, what they could do with their bodies, and who they were allowed to love. Stepping outside those rules came at a cost, and it left me with a deep dislike for anything that tells people they're less than.
As I got older, many people in my life kept hitting versions of the same walls. Friends who worked in the sex industry. Friends who went through really hard abortions. And far too many women who have lived through sexual assault. Again and again, I watched them get rushed, judged, or simply not seen by the systems that were supposed to help. Trauma-informed care is at the base of how I operate and the environment I want to create.
Why four backgrounds instead of one
No single profession had the full picture, so I collected the pieces:
Physiotherapy gave me anatomy, injury care, and rehab.
Personal training gave me technique, form, and the ability to modify just about anything.
Recreation therapy taught me to support people emotionally and socially, not just physically.
Somatic training tied it all together by connecting what's happening in the body with what's happening in the mind.
Together, that means I can work with the physical, emotional, and social side of what you're carrying, not just one piece of it.
What working with me is like
People I've worked with say I really listen, I don't judge, and I think outside the box. I'm analytical enough to figure out what's going on, and creative enough to find a way through it that fits your actual life.
If you're looking for pregnancy or postpartum support, there are wonderful people for that and I'm happy to point you their way. My lane is the women who usually don't get one.
When I'm not working
You'll usually find me at a spin class or trying out something new at the gym. I've lived in as many places as I can and have have appreciated each person and experience I’ve collected along the way. Years of serving and bartending explain why I'm a little too invested in Below Deck and why I still love sitting at kitchen bars to eat great food and watch the chefs do what they do. I recharge with friend dates that lead us to thrift store shopping or any live music, theater and comedy show available. Of course quality time with my foster cat is a must, because I've always had a soft spot for anyone who's been overlooked.
